Ryerson St@te P@rk 2016

Our inaugural camping trip in the Love Sh@ck was in the early spring and we had a little snow on our last day in camp. We couldn't wait to get out and camp in warmer weather so we went to Google maps to see if there were any campgrounds within a short drive from home. After a brief search, we discovered that Ryerson Station State Park was not far across the border in neighboring Pennsylvania.

Ryerson Station State Park is a primitive campground with no electric or water hookups and pit toilets. In addition to the forty-six tent sights, they also have two small cabins for rent. Overall, the campground was quiet and clean but was in need of mowing while we were there. They have plenty of hiking trails as well as a large pool, which we didn't have time to enjoy.

Prior to our departure, a park ranger stopped by to let us know that they would be upgrading the campground in the coming year. Plans include upgrading the bathhouse to include showers as well as installing electric and water in some of the sights. They also plan to build more cabins. We look forward to returning next year to see what changes have been made.

Blackberrys picked from the bushes around the camp sight.
